Dr. Gorstein is Managing Director of Meacham Woodfield, LLC and Managing Director of Health Innovations, LLC.
Dr. Gorstein has over 25 years of experience as a physician, professional investor, and consultant principally to businesses in the healthcare vertical. His experience on Wall Street when added to his clinical training has uniquely equipped Dr. Gorstein to be a key advisor to companies seeking to prosper in the healthcare and informatics markets.
After completing his residency, Dr. Gorstein went to Wall St. Between 1986 - 1997, Dr. Gorstein worked at Sanwa Bank, Credit Suisse - First Boston and Fuji Securities as a healthcare sector analyst, and also had the opportunity to become a derivatives trader. Both at Credit Suisse and Fuji, Dr. Gorstein was the head of the fixed income derivatives trading group.
In 1997, Dr. Gorstein joined HW Capital Advisors, a consulting and investing firm in the life sciences space. HW Capital Advisors traded for their own account initially, and then launched HW Biofund LP, a hedge fund operating in the Biotech and Healthcare Technology markets. Dr. Gorstein was a General Partner in the fund, and responsible for all of the trading. Using sophisticated trading and hedging strategies, the fund operated from 2000 - 2003, averaging returns in excess of 25% per annum.
Dr. Gorstein was employed at James L Dooley & Associates , a healthcare consulting and recruiting firm from 2003-2009.
Presently, Dr. Gorstein is the founder of Health Innovations, LLC. He continues to partner with innovative healthcare companies, developing clinical informatics and technology strategies, as well as recruiting C level executives and other key positions to build effective teams for businesses in the healthcare, healthcare services, healthcare IT and informatics spaces.
Health Innovations and Meacham Woodfield are closely aligned in a partnership designed to identify and assist both early stage and later stage healthcare and healthcare technology Companies, with management consulting, senior management team building, capital access, transaction advisory and partnership opportunities.
Dr. Gorstein is a frequent speaker on healthcare innovation, and is a member of the following organizations: AMA, HIMSS, ACPE, AMDIS, AHQA, AMDIS
Dr. Gorstein graduated from Amherst College and received his MD from NYU. He completed a surgical internship at Yale and a residency in Radiology at Vanderbilt.
